Obviously, better gear is going to make you much more deadly however, as a solo build this one is probably the best one out there. Not only can they output incredible damage and move around quickly, but you don't need high-end gear to get started. Hammerdins are one of the most popular builds in Diablo II: Resurrected for a good reason. If you want to level up quickly and start working on hunting down gear, these are great classes to get you there. These characters are the best of the best in solo play for various reasons. Then we will go into details on the pros and cons of the builds. With those two points in mind, let's look at our Tier List in Summary first. That doesn't mean playing as a Barbarian is impossible, it's just not going to go as quickly as other characters. Plus, you're further away from the action, making those characters much safer. Caster classes are stronger overall when you're on your own because you don't have to worry about your attacks hitting the target. On top of that, one of the main things to keep in mind is that, in general, melee characters are much worse for solo play. If you have friends or another character who can get you gear, other builds might be better. As will builds that require more high-end gear to really come online. So, builds that function best in multiplayer will fall down the list.
